Gynecomastia Surgery in Pune

Gynecomastia surgery can be considered semi-permanent cosmetic procedure, meaning the glandular tissue will not grow back. However, no cosmetic surgery is ever truly permanent. Factors that may lead to regrowth includes use of anabolic steroids, weight fluctuations and uncontrolled hormonal imbalance.

Some of the patients may encounter discrete red patches over the skin which usually resolves over 3 to 5 days with medication. Swelling can persist throughout 1st week of surgery. Mild to moderate pain, discrete red patches and swelling can taken care by use of pain killer, anti-inflammatory medication, multivitamins and pressure garments. Swelling typically resolves between 2 to 3 weeks after the surgery. Occasionally, discoloration of nipple areola complex may occur which usually resolves over a period of 4 to 6 weeks.

Patient is advised to start wearing pressure garment from the next day of surgery. It helps to maintain the chest contour achieved by the surgery and mitigates the post-surgery swelling, pain. It is mandatory to wear pressure garment for minimum of 1-month post-surgery and preferably up to 3 months.

Daily routine activities can be resumed immediately from the next day. Strenuous work and exercises can be started 4 to 6 weeks after surgery.

Although, gland excision is done by peri-areolar incision, the nerve and blood supply of nipple areola complex is well preserved. There is no comprise in sensation when the surgery is performed by trained board-certified plastic surgeon.
